Laura Erekson
Laura Erekson creates art that invites viewers to engage mentally, emotionally, and at times physically. Her work examines expansive themes while remaining deeply personal, encouraging intimate connections between the viewer and the artist. Each piece is grounded in material exploration, often pushing the boundaries of the medium.

Born in Oakland, California, Laura now lives and works in Salt Lake City, Utah. She holds a BFA from Brigham Young University in drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture, and an MAT from George Mason University. Her background in printmaking and sculpture shape her current practice. Using found objects, steel, and plants in her process, she creates richly textured works that incorporate the physical remnants of the materials themselves.

In addition to her studio work, Laura is an active public artist known for her large-scale steel sculptures and community-centered paintings and installations. Her most recent public art installation is a monumental work Rooted, a fifteen-foot sugar beet steel sculpture created for the City of West Jordan.

Laura’s work has been exhibited in Maryland, Virginia, Utah, New York City, and in the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. Her paintings and sculptures are included in numerous private and public collections.

You can find Laura’s work at Trove Gallery in Park City, Utah.
